Instant Online Auto Insurance Quotes - Is it really instant?
March 29th, 2008If you are like me, you will really understand the meaning of instant. My Car Insurance is expiring tomorrow morning and I will realize it today at 5 PM. Sure I will take help of Internet and try to get Instant Quote and Instant Insurance. I presume thats what the instant definition is.
Now seemingly with Auto Insurance Industry or to say with many other similar industries the definition of instant is lost. Instead they are just using the word Instant to somehow grab the attention of the customer.
Imagine you are searching for Instant Online Auto Insurance Quote, land a page fill all your information to realize that a) You get assurance that you will be called by next available assistant in next 3 business days or b) Got a quote of 500$ a mont (the only way to reduce is call them and then they will negotiate and cut it down to 100$). Heck so then what is Instant there. It is Instant screwing. Why cant these companies be true to English definition and provide a real instant quote. My thinking is most of the companies Blue Suits while sitting in posh chambers in NY thinks that people who are using internet to search instant quote are fools and u can rip them off easily. By that thinking they are making a fool of themselves. Life will be much better if instant online quote is real good instant online quote, we pay money online instant and we get instant insurance. It will be cost effective for suits as well.
Now for consumers, how we can protect ourself from instant screwing:
A> Understand there is nothing Instant
B> Dont fill out online forms at zillion sites, if you dont get instant insurance at one place. Most of the time all these sites send your info to 3-4 top companies. So even if you fill 10 forms, ultimately you are applying at 3-4 places only through different agents.
C> Be wise. Understand insurance is subject to solicitation, so for now live with the reality of soliciting on phone and in person. Pick the phon talk to 3-4 agents make them sweat for your money and get the best deal.
